    Orange Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail

This easy yet festive cocktail is the perfect way to ring in the New Year! Celebrate in style with these gorgeous and bright Orange Pomegranate Champagne Cocktails rimmed with gold glitter sprinkles!

I am SUPER excited that my friend Laura from Chocolate Covered Cheetah is here today to share this fantastic champagne cocktail with you! I have known Laura for years now &ndash I actually forget how I came to know her, but we have been traveling in the same blogger circles for a while. I love her balance of healthy and indulgent recipes! A celebratory toast with this champagne cocktail to the new year seems especially poignant for me right now &ndash we have much to be thankful for and we are definitely celebrating a new family member!

Hi! I&rsquom Laura, I am the voice of Chocolate Covered Cheetah , a food focused blog with a variety of recipes for a balanced lifestyle! I&rsquom so happy to be guest posting today for Jenni while she is on maternity leave! I&rsquom so glad to meet all of you!

Today I am sharing a NYE cocktail recipe! Really you could drink this Orange Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail for any occasion, but it has a fancy vibe making it perfect for NYE celebrations!

Champagne is synonymous with celebration, which makes it the go-to beverage for New Years! You are either celebrating all the good things that have happened in the past year or you are celebrating saying &ldquocya later 2017&rdquo and &ldquohello to a brand new year&rdquo!

The new year is a time for a fresh start. Lots of people go on diets, or resolve to be better people by volunteering more or giving more to charity, others vow to be nicer to their parents/spouses/friends. It is time for a re-set and time to look to the future in hopes of a prosperous year.

That is where the pomegranate comes in! A lesser known symbol of celebration, the pomegranate represents prosperity. It was distinguished as such by the Ancient Egyptians and you can see it as a symbol in Greek Mythology.

So it doesn&rsquot seem like a bad idea that we&rsquove cracked one open to add it to our NYE cocktail!

Start by making an orange pomegranate reduction, add that to a champagne flute, top with champagne, garnish with gold sprinkles, pomegranate seeds and orange rind and there you have it, a perfect cocktail to help ring in the New Year! I hope you enjoy this champagne cocktail!

I’m a sucker for a good cocktail. But a lot of them, especially the really pretty ones are filled with food colorings I don’t want to put in my body. When I learned about pomegranate champagne cocktails recently I couldn’t wait to give it a try!

The concept is pretty basic, pomegranate juice and pomegranate seeds are added to champagne, basically a mimosa but with pomegranate juice. Raspberries make an eye-popping addition too. The color is gorgeous and everyone I have served these too raves about them. They are perfect for the holidays too as the red is so festive, garnishing with a sprig of rosemary is a trick I like to do around Christmas too that plays up the colors even more.

Or add a rock candy stick to these and celebrate new years with them! They are super versatile.

Pomegranate champagne cocktails are basically the best idea ever (except maybe mimosa’s of course). When you space doing drinks for your next event definitely keep this one up to your sleeve.

Speaking of champagne cocktails, if this one isn’t quite up to your alley we also make these as blood orange champagne cocktails and for a really unique twist try our blackberry lavender champagne cocktails! Yes, I have an obsession.

    Pomegranate Orange Champagne Cocktail

Today is the last day of 2013. It's a day of reflection on the past year and a day to think about resolutions for the future. 2013 was a decent year for me. I'm healthy, I have a job I enjoy, I have a loving husband, and a wonderful family. My little brother got engaged to a woman I really like and I'm happy for them both. My blog has grown significantly as has my etsy business. I have some wonderful friends and will be celebrating with some of them tonight. With all the highs in 2013 there were also some lows both for me personally and in my family.

For 2014 my main hope is that my family and friends be happy and healthy. Personally my goals are to try and eat better, exercise more, grow my blog, and maintain the wonderful relationships I have with both friends and family. I'm hoping that 2014 will be a year to remember.

To help celebrate tonight I created a champagne cocktail with a few things that I had in the house. The basis is, of course, champagne. I wanted a pink tinge to make it look extra festive and that came from pomegranate juice. Then I added in some Grand Marnier for that orange flavor and this fruity and festive cocktail was born! Make a single glass or make it in a pitcher and share with your friends. Either way I want to wish you all a Happy and Healthy 2014!

Pomegranate Orange Champagne Cocktail (a Hezzi-D original)

1 oz. Grand Marnier (or your favorite orange liqueur)
    1 oz. Pomegranate juice
4 oz. your favorite champagne, chilled (we currently love Segura Viudas Brut Reserva)
orange slice and pomegranate arils for decoration

    1. Pour the Grand Marnier and pomegranate juice into a champagne glass.

    2. Fill the glass with your favorite chilled champagne. Top with a few pomegranate arils and an orange slice.

Wow, this is a lovely way to serve Champagne. Very festive for the holidays. I doubled the amount of ginger slices based ont e recomendations from other reviewers. You can use a very inexpensive bottle of Cooks Brut and this will make the cocktail rise above!

When you make this, keep a sharp eye on the pomegranate syrup toward the end of cooking it -- all of a sudden it thickens a lot, and you can suddenly find you have less than you expected and that it's thicker than you might want. Either because of this or because I cooled it too much in the fridge before mixing the cocktails, it didn't mix evenly. The cocktails were still very good and elegant, but they might have looked better (and more like the picture) had the syrup been thinner.

I wasn't as impressed as Iɽ hoped to be, but this was still good. Followed the recipe closely with fresh squeezed OJ, Cointreau, and Brut Prosecco. I doubled the ginger and still felt like it didn't really come through. Grating the ginger as other reviewers did would have helped a bit. I'm just not sure I liked this more than a plain glass of champagne. Maybe a little too sweet as well.

I substituted blood orange juice, it looked fantastic and tasted wonderful (also increased the ginger).

As is, this recipe isn't great. As other reviewers advised, used much more ginger, grated first in the mini-prep, to give the syrup a nice kick. However, the orange juice made the drink a muddy color (not like the picture here), didn't add anything really to the taste, and provided the nice bonus of having to use a bottle brush to get pulp unstuck from a legion of flutes post-party. Syrup + champagne = delicious. Forget the other ingredients. (Also makes a nice version for those designated drivers with ginger ale or sparkling water in place of the bubbly).

Great recipe, not too sweet. I doubled the recipe, and used 6 slices of ginger. It still was barely strong enough. I also used fresh tangerine juice, added a nice twist. Made it with one bottle of brut and one bottle of Asti. I preferred it with the brut.

LOVE this! And to gabfantana I have found that fresh ginger really varies depending on the time of year, it's freshness and where it is coming from. Sometimes the called for amount is enough, other times it is not. Just keep tasting to get the flavor you like.

I was disappointed when I tasted the drink. It would have been lovely had the ginger been stronger. Exactly how much is a quarter inch slice? Very irresponsible quantity.

Can't add much except to agree this is a definite winner. Will use repeatedly.

Everybody take Lucy's advice. Great cocktail already but with Canton it's even better. There are many other great cocktails you can try with that liqueur. It's fun to experience with it!

This would even taste great with a splash of Canton Ginger Liqueur.

I made this (times 8 to serve 32) for a cocktail party we hosted for a diverse group of friends. The color was festive, the taste delicious and not too sweet, and the sparkling wine put everyone in a festive mood. I made the pomegranate syrup two days before and added the orange juice and orange liqueur to the syrup once cooled. I kept it in the fridge until party time, when I put the syrup mixture in a nice glass pitcher and poured about 2 tablespoons in a glass and topped with sparkling wine. We ran out of this as it was so popular. Very sophisticated.

This is fantastic, I've made it many times. I cut the sugar down to 1 teaspoon and for more ginger flavor I grate the ginger. Just be sure to strain the pomegrante juice mixtue before serving.

This was exceptional, not too sweet and with complex flavors. I'll never go back to cassis and chambord with champagne! I doubled the recipe, then mixed the pomegranate syrup, the juice and Grand Marnier and chilled those separately. At serving time, I put 2 tablespoons of that mixture into each glass and filled with champagne. Delicious.

This was my signature drink at my 40th bday party. So Yummy. I quadrupled the syrup recipe and placed in a glass pitcher. Guests poured a bit in their glass and topped with Prosecco. It was a huge hit. making it again for girls night party.

Add extra ginger (3 or 4 more pieces) for an even better flavor. Nibble on the ginger (after three or four glasses) for a refreshing pick-me-up.

This was a wonderful brunch drink and I am getting ready to make it again!

I made this for a New Year's party. I quadrupled the recipe (except for the OJ, which I kept at the original 4 Tbs.) and put it in a pitcher beside the champagne, with a bowl of fresh pomegranate seeds. Everyone loved it and it looked beautiful. It's my current house cocktail.

Very tasty and easy to prepare. I used the Tuaca I purchased for the Hazelnut cake and it was great.

Making a pomegranate mimosa: add the sparkling wine last

There are a few schools of thought when it comes to the order of ingredients in a mimosa! In our classic mimosa we add the sparkling wine first: this avoids overfilling the glass with out of control champagne bubbles. But for the pomegranate mimosa, we like adding the champagne last. Not sure about you, but we like the fizzy bubbles that makes the drink look ultra festive.

Tip: Adding garnishes makes for a more bubbly drink, because the sparkling wine creates bubbles against anything inside the glass.

POMEGRANATE MARTINI WITH VODKA | INGREDIENTS

    • Vodka | If you like a cocktail on the sweeter side, you’ll especially enjoy a Pomegranate Martini made with citrus vodka, which comes with a bit more sugar than standard vodka. On the flip side, if you prefer cocktails on the dryer side, go with a good, quality unflavored vodka.
    • Orange Liqueur | It’s no secret that orange pairs beautifully with the flavor of pomegranate. We used Grand Marnier Orange Liqueur during recipe development, and it makes this drink one seriously smooth sipping cocktail!
    • Pomegranate Juice | Pomegranate juice takes up more space in the martini glass than any other ingredient, so make sure you get a brand you enjoy the taste of! Pomegranate juice is typically found alongside refrigerated specialty juice blends.
    • Lemon Juice | You’d be surprised at how far one little squeeze of lemon goes in a cocktail. In this Pomegranate Martini, it adds a lovely balance of freshness.

HOW TO MAKE A LARGE BATCH FOR A PARTY

    1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
    2. Add vodka, orange liqueur, pomegranate juice, and freshly squeezed lemon to the shaker.
    3. Seak the shaker and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds.
    4. Strain into a martini glass and enjoy!

    HOW TO GARNISH IT

There’s more than one way to garnish a martini, but the simplest way is to drop a few pomegranate seeds into the glass and add a sprig of fresh rosemary. The fresh scent of rosemary adds a wonderful aromatics to the cocktail, and its pine-like vibes add some cozy, wintery feels.

If you want a garnish that’s extra beautiful, slice up a few lemon wheels. Then, cut the wheel halfway to the center, and pop it on the side of the glass.

Want to get really extra with it? Add a sugar rim. Note, once your Pomegranate Martini goes into the glass, it’s too late to add a sugar rim. Add the sugar rim, then pour the cocktail.

HOW TO ADD A SUGAR RIM TO A MARTINI GLASS

    1. Pour about 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar onto a small plate.
    2. Then, take a lemon wedge and run it around the perimeter of the glass.
    3. Press the rim of the glass into the sugar and slightly wiggle it around until well coated.

    Bubbly Pomegranate Lime Champagne Cocktail

It’s hard to believe that the year is coming to a close but it’s true. Before we know it we will be ringing New Year’s bells and making resolutions on what the next year will bring. I can’t think of a better reason to celebrate than a fresh year!

Champagne cocktails I gotta admit are kinda my jam. From our gorgeous Blood Orange Champagne Cocktails to our viral Blackberry Lavender Champagne Cocktails if there is anyone who is slightly obsessed with them it’s most definitely me. I just love how simple and yet how elegant these little drinks are!

We start off with pomegranate juice. We use 100% pure pomegranate juice, you can usually find this in the produce section (with the fresh veggie platters for some reason) or in the refrigerated juice section. If you can’t find pomegranate juice a cranberry juice blend substitutes decently, just be sure it’s mixed with other juices and that you aren’t buying straight cranberry juice (hello sour!).

Next up is lime juice. Fresh squeezed is great but shhh we used bottled and no one could tell the difference.

And of course&hellip.vodka. Vodka is my go to liquor for making champagne cocktails because it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the drink with any new flavors. It boosts up the boozy factor without losing the essence of your flavoring. ***If you don’t want to make these extra boozy (or you are going for a non-alcoholic version you can totally omit this part no problem.***

Give that a good shake in your shaker. If your juice is for some reason not chilled feel free to toss in a bit of ice here to help chill it down.

Fill the glasses (these gorgeous Mikasa dots glasses) halfway with the juice mixture and add your straws here. If you wait to add your straws after the champagne is added they will foam up and out the straws. But the paper straws are&hellip.paper. Meaning they start to soften quite a bit if you leave them in liquids too long. So if you are needing to prep these drinks and leave them out on a table it’s a good idea to skip the straws.

Top them up with champagne or ginger ale and garnish with a slice of lime or starfruit and voila! A beautiful holiday drink that is oh so festive. Serve them on this tray for the perfect holiday presentation!
